Google opened its Google Shopping Express same-day delivery service to a test market in San Francisco last week.
The service delivers products for the trial from a select group of retailers that includes Target, Walgreens, Staples, American Eagle, Toys"R"Us/Babies"R"Us, Office Depot, San Francisco's Blue Bottle Coffee, Raley's Nob Hill Foods and Palo Alto Toy & Sport.
Lucky San Francisco residents that get in on the beta test will receive six months of free same-day deliveries. Google is also building relationships with retailers interested in participating.
Now that Google has entered the arena of e-commerce convenience, it sets itself up to become a direct competitor with other delivery services offered by Amazon and eBay.
