Consumers will be shopping and spending more this holiday season, but they're also be expecting greater service and a more rewarding customer experience.
That's the insight from a Voxware Research report on holiday shopping trends. The research reveals 83 percent of those polled in the fourth biennial survey expect to buy more gifts this year than last, and 48 percent of consumers expect purchases to arrive within two days, according to a release on the data.
A good number, 86 percent, said they have higher expectations for correct and on-time delivery than two years ago.
"Consumers have many choices for where they shop," said Keith Phillips, president and CEO of Voxware, in the release. "They trust that when they submit their order, what they ordered will show up on their doorstep and when it's promised. If not, they will take their business elsewhere and that particular retailer might be the next filing Chapter 11. Consumer expectations during the holidays continues to rise and retailers must deliver or face harsh consequences."
