HP powers retailers with POS, invoice-processing systems

September 16, 2008

HONG KONG — HP has introduced a range of scalable products and solutions for retail businesses that are designed to help drive an enhanced customer experience in the retail environment.

According to a news release, the portfolio allows retailers to enhance the overall customer experience by managing operations more efficiently and driving elevated service levels.

HP recently partnered with retail chain owner Harvey Norman OFIS in Australia to further its vision of driving a differentiated retail experience and provide a true one-stop-shop for print services to Harvey Norman's customers. Using proven HP printing and imaging technology, the Harvey Norman OFIS print center now provides customers with a wide range of consistent print services, from office document printing, copying, finishing and photo prints to large format posters and photo books.

The new offerings include the HP rp3000 point-of-sale solution, which can integrate into any retailer's IT environment to help process sales transactions and manage inventory, and two HP Color LaserJet devices that allow customers to produce offset-equivalent-quality documents and marketing materials in-house. The HP Automated Invoice Processing solution, also part of the deal, is designed to accelerate accounts payables, permitting invoices to be processed in days rather than weeks.

"HP provides retailers with solutions to help them to reduce costs, increase efficiency and accelerate business results, so that they can focus on their customers," said Lee Hui Li, a director in HP Asia-Pacific/Japan's Imaging and Printing Group. "Furthermore, by providing solutions that can streamline their document-intensive processes, we can help them deliver a more efficient and accessible environment for managing and sharing information."
