Hy-Vee stores are getting security teams to ensure safety for both customers and store workers.
The grocery chain's security effort is viewed as a customer service resource, according to a CBS 14 Fox 44 report.
The officers are specially trained to defuse situations, according to the news outlet.
"Hy-Vee has a strong history of doing anything for our customers, and these officers will be held to that same standard," Jeremy Gosch, Hy-Vee president and chief operating officer, told the news outlet. "These officers will help provide another layer of safety and security for our customers, and will work alongside our store employees to deliver the same helpful smiles and outstanding service everyone expects at their local store."
