Infinite scrolling feature could increase shopper browse time

April 10, 2013

Brazilian internet retailer MuccaShop is increasing its revenue with the help of an infinite scrolling browsing feature, according to an announcement.

The infinite scrolling feature enables users to automatically load the next page of a website by scrolling down, eliminating the need to click a specific button to go on to the next page — potentially encouraging users to spend more time on the site, the announcement said. Before the infinite scroll's implementation, site visitors would stay for an average of five pages per visit. Afterward, the average increased to 16.

By measuring the click-through rate, MuccaShop found that the number of visitors who found and clicked on the products they were searching for increased from 52 percent to 65 percent — and that resulted a 25 percent increase in revenue.
