Istanbul airport ranks as tops in global mega-airport customer experience

The Istanbul Airport has been deemed the best in customer experience when it comes to ranking the world's best airport CX.

That's according to the Airport Service Quality Awards which included insight from 465,000 passenger surveys conducted in 2022. The survey polled travelers on ease of navigation, shopping, dining and check-in experiences, according to a CNN report.

Of the 69 airports that received ASQ awards for overall quality, 11 were in North America. The Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and the San Francisco International Airport were chosen as being "best" airports with over 40 million passengers annually.

The Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport and Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport landed on the list of best airports with 25 million to 40 million passengers annually.

The Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport in South Carolina and the William P. Hobby Airport in Houston, Texas, were ranked as those being the world's "most enjoyable" airports.

Best North American airports in all passenger volume categories from large to small are:

• Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport.
• Minneapolis/St Paul International Airport.
• San Jose Mineta International Airport.
• Indianapolis International Airport.
• Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport.
• Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.
• Gerald R. Ford International Airport, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
• Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport.
• Fort McMurray International Airport, Alberta, Canada.
