ebizQ: According to a new study from Aberdeen, retailers are translating item-level RFID investments into clear, measurable business benefits — benefits sufficient to compel many retailers to adopt or expand adoption of RFID in 2008 and beyond. The study also unearthed an important schism dividing the market for RFID in retail. Despite the business benefits already being enjoyed by many, 53 percent of the non-adopters identified by Aberdeen research still believe that RFID has not matured sufficiently to prove its ROI. These and other findings indicate that inaccurate perceptions of the realities of RFID in retail may be the biggest impediments to broader adoption.
