Having a July 4 cookout should be less expensive for consumers this year with an estimation of $67.73 for a cookout for 10, a 3% dip from 2022 which was a record high.
The cost of this year's cookout is 14% higher than two years ago.
The projection comes from an American Farm Bureau Federation survey that revealed that while burger buns, beef and potato sales are costing more, chicken breast, chocolate chip cookies and lemonade are costing less, according to a KLS.com report on the survey findings.
"The slight downward direction in the cost of a cookout doesn't counter the dramatic increases we've seen over the past few years. Families are still feeling the pinch of high inflation along with other factors keeping prices high," Roger Cryan, chief economist at the American Farm Bureau Federation, told the news outlet.
