Progressive Grocer reports that an innovative new program being tested at a Kroger in Columbus, Ohio. The WineStation kiosk is a temperature-controlled system that allows the retailer to open a bottle for the purpose of sampling, and retain its taste and bouquet for up to 60 days.
"The WineStation allows us to take the mystique and mystery out of tasting and buying wines for our guest," the store's manager told PG. "Customers can now taste and learn about new wine varietals, brands and vintages, or signature wines they've heard so much about in the past. We also offer customers Kroger-Bistro tasting cards, which allow them to sample a taste, half or full glass, for their enjoyment."
