Illinois retailers and businesses would be required to hire and maintain security within stores if a proposed bill is passed by lawmakers.
State Rep. Thaddeus Jones, a Democrat, has proposed the bill called the Armed Security Protection Act that would force grocery stores, banks, gas stations and pawn shops to have at least one armed security guard on premise during operating hours, according to a Fox Business report.
Several local store owners, contacted by the news outlet, aren't endorsing the bill given cost and liability issues.
