November 1, 2022

Host Hotels & Resorts, the owners of the Marriott Marquis in Times Square, New York City, has partnered with LG Fulfillment (powered by MDM Commercial) for a digital signage makeover, according to a press release and installation case study, highlighting the growth of digital signage in the hotel sector.

Part of an extensive lobby renovation begun in 2020, the Marriott Marquis renovation features two 50-foot 800-nit Direct Video LED single-panel video walls, each with 1.8 mm pixel pitch. Marking LG Fulfillment's first DVLED installation, the displays feature variable content zoning along with a DOOH media player, a video resolution processor to scale content to custom aspect ratios and a media player to play subscribed Blackdove multimedia content. The screens are compatible with 3D anamorphic content.

"Host Hotels & Resorts previously installed a DVLED display at a Westin location, so they had a pretty good idea of how valuable it could be in terms of ROI," Cheryl McGinty Weiland, VP of hospitality at LG Fulfillment, said in the case study. "Since their goal is to sell digital ad space, we made sure the content systems would be reliable, simple to use, and maximize display performance and appearance.

"This eye-catching content leverages the distinct shape of the DVLED displays to present visitors with an unforgettable visual experience that's unique to this spectacular hotel," Jake Benner, sales director for hospitality, cruise and fitness at LG Fulfillment, said in the case study. "That's the promise of custom DVLED displays. Requiring no standard format or aspect ratio, displays of this type enable owners and creatives to reimagine what visual content can convey."
