Most retailers haven't found a profitable way to fill orders

March 1, 2017

A new JDA Software and PwC report reveals just 10 percent of 350 global retailers are making money when it comes to product fulfillment.

Increasing product return rates, high delivery costs and high labor costs in fulfillment are the top challenges thwarting profitability, according to a CNBC report.

"Retailers now need to balance the effectiveness and profitability of the fulfillment channels they offer with customer satisfaction," Lee Gill, JDA group VP of global retail strategy, said in a statement, according to CNBC.

"If shoppers experience a problem with home delivery or in-store pickups, that is a lost sale — and customer — that retailers can't afford in a highly competitive market," he said.
