Mother's Day shoppers will spend, on average, just under $100 buck this year, with baby boomers most likely to spend the least and generation xers likely to spend over a C-note.
The most popular item for purchase will be a greeting card followed by flowers and a meal, according to a new Citi Retail Services survey. Of those shopping nearly 40 percent will hit a brick-and-mortar store, 21 percent will go online and 16 percent will shop in both places.
In terms of planning one in three begin getting ready to honor Mom two to three weeks in advance, but nearly half, 42 percent, wait until less than a week before to plan the gift day.
