Multichannel and showrooming helped retailers that did it right

November 27, 2012

Booz & Co. chief retail analyst Thom Blischok said Monday on CNBC that retail companies did well if they successfully integrated their online and brick-and-mortar presence.

According to the CNBC report, Blischok named Walmart, Target and Best Buy as the big winners, with Walmart's hourly sales being "hit the ball out of the park."

"The winners will be characterized as retailers who have a strong integrated, online presence and in-store presence. We call it multichannel retailing," Blischok said.

"Walmart was very brilliant this year in their strategies around in-store retailing, got the customers excited, people came to the stores," he said. "People were absolutely prepared for the shopping occasion."
