MyRegistry.com using Pinterest to drive traffic

MyRegistry.com, a provider of online gift registry technology, is hoping Pinterest will help it increase brand awareness and traffic. It has recently launched tools to help Pinterest users turn their top picks on the site into gift registries. The MyRegistry browser extension allows anyone to add any pin on Pinterest to a universal gift registry on the MyRegistry.com platform, according to a company press release. Also, members of the free MyRegistry.com service may also transfer complete pinboards onto their gift registries, using the company's new Pinterest import tool.

The browser extension, a free tool available on major Web browsers, enhances the Pinterest experience by providing an "Add to MyRegistry" button on all pins. Users may add pins to their universal gift registries on the MyRegistry platform while browsing Pinterest.

To overcome the lack of price tags on most items on Pinterest, MyRegistry.com has introduced technology that automatically retrieves the prices of pins from the original websites, even if they have been re-pinned. As such, users are able to effortlessly add pins complete with prices to their own personal gift registries, MyRegistry.com President Nancy Lee said in the release.

Additionally, users are now provided with a special tool to import all their pinboards and then select en masse which pins they would like to add to their gift registries; members can add as many pins as they want, all at once. This feature also works with the automatic price retrieval, making pins from e-commerce websites viable for a gift registry, Lee said.

Once users have added pins to their registries, they have access to all of MyRegistry.com's advanced gift registry features, such as the ability to register for cash, synchronize existing store registries, or send reminder and thank you notes via Facebook. Gift givers will be able to mark gifts as purchased to avoid duplicate buying and users are provided with a comprehensive record of purchaser information.
