NCR APTRA debuts in Africa

Today at the ATM Industry Association Africa Chapter conference, NCR Corp., in collaboration with Bytes Managed Solutions, its exclusive distributor in South Africa and other selected countries, launched NCR APTRA Interactive Teller into the African market.

A news release from NCR said that interactive teller offers FIs in South Africa and the sub-Saharan region a new approach to growing their geographic footprint. Additionally, the company said, it lets them focus on transforming the branch location into a more effective service and sales environment.

For example, Interactive Teller will allow banks to offer after-hours full teller services in areas that are not served by branches, while also providing advanced facilities such as intelligent deposit, bill pay, new account opening and loan initiations, the company said.

Interactive teller also enables services that cannot be conducted at a traditional ATM or other self-service device, NCR said. For instance, customers can perform secure transactions without using a traditional ATM card. And, like branch tellers, remote tellers can override daily cash withdrawal limits to give customers access to a larger portion of their funds on deposit, if needed.

"Bank branches remain an important selling tool and revenue driver for financial institutions, but they are costly and make it difficult for banks to expand their footprint," said Constantinos Koudounias, NCR director of AMEA marketing.

"NCR APTRA Interactive Teller is a solution to the challenges around expansion and provision of banking services to the unbanked populations in rural areas, helping banks to augment their branch footprint, deliver teller services to underserved areas and provide their branch promises."
