NetSuite announces purchase of Retail Anywhere

Cloud-based ERP (enterprise resource planning) vendor NetSuite announced Thursday its acquisition of POS and retail management system vendor Retail Anywhere.

Retail Anywhere's in-store software runs on traditional POS hardware and on Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch mobile devices. Retail Anywhere's cloud services, which are now based on NetSuite, consolidate transactions from across multiple stores, integrate with back-end systems and support business intelligence querying and reporting, according to informationweek.com.

"Customers want to be able to shop online and pick up merchandise in stores, and when they're at a store and something isn't in stock, they want to know if it's available nearby or can be ordered online," said Andy Lloyd, NetSuite's general manager of commerce products to InformationWeek. "Our customers have been happy with our e-commerce offerings, but many of them do the majority of their business through stores, so POS is crucial."
