No more Cosmo at Walmart checkout aisle

April 2, 2018

Hyper sexual content has no place in the Walmart checkout experience as the nation’s top retailer is booting the Cosmopolitan magazine off the aisle racks.

"Walmart will continue to offer Cosmopolitan to customers that wish to purchase the magazine, but it will no longer be in the checkout aisles," Walmart said in a statement, according to a NPR report. "While this was primarily a business decision, the concerns raised were heard."

Those concerns, as noted by NPR, had mostly to do with the magazine’s sexualized cover photos and articles and a protest movement led by a group called the National Center on Sexual Exploitation which has been trying to get Cosmo booted from all store shelves.
