An email from Mike Gatti, senior vice president of communications for the National Retail Federation, reports that last month's 99th Annual Convention & Expo in New York was a smashing success.
"This year's NRF Annual Convention was a tremendous success with attendance of approximately 18,500, matching 2008 numbers — our best year ever," he writes. "We also had 473 exhibitors at the show this year. Retailers saw a lot of value in the EXPO and our educational content. As a result, we saw a 20 percent increase in retail attendance for this year's convention. Exhibitors were very pleased with the high volume of traffic on the floor, which led to a lot of new business opportunities. All in all, attendees expressed optimism about the coming year."
