Old Navy names a new president after seven-month search

Veteran Old Navy/Gap executive takes helm.

April 18, 2016

It’s taken seven months but there is a new chief executive at the helm of Old Navy.

A Gap veteran, Sonia Syngal, who previously served as executive VP of global supply chain and product operations, is now global president. The Gap's previous president, Stefan Larsson, resigned to move into the CEO role at Ralph Lauren.

Last month Old Navy CMO Ivan Wicksteed, who had served in the role for three years, departed the company, according to an Ad Age report.

"Sonia is an inspiring leader with a proven track record leading transformation and driving product-to-market innovations," said Art Peck, CEO of Gap Inc., in a statement.

"Old Navy is truly changing the value space with great design and quality apparel that the whole family loves, and I can't wait to focus my energy on continuing to deliver that promise for our customers," Syngal said in a statement.
