Nearly 70% of global online electronics shoppers will spend the same or more this year and sustainability is a key purchasing decision for 92% of Gen Z and 90% of millennial consumers.

Those are top findings from an ESW Global Voices Survey that also revealed that more than nine out of 10 Gen Z consumers go online when buying electronics such as computer games, PCs, software and smartphones.

"While Gen Z and millennial shoppers will buy from their favorite brands regardless of international borders, sustainability is rapidly becoming one of the top concerns for consumers in this space. In order to attract this lucrative consumer — which primarily shops online for electronics — manufacturers and brands must be transparent with their environmental credentials," Chad Johnson, ESW's VP of electronics, gaming and digital, said in a press release.

Additional findings include:
• 71% are more willing to buy a product if it has a positive environmental impact.
• 59% have purchased from a new brand specifically because of its sustainability practices.

The survey was conducted in November 2022 in 16 countries and polled 16,557 consumers.
