Retail Jeweller: New research by Ipsos MORI's retail and shopper division found that the online revolution had created a nation of savvy shoppers who are better prepared to deal with the likely recession than in similar times in the past. The poll found that 47 percent of people regularly use price comparison sites before making a purchase, while 51 percent routinely check online before purchasing.
However, 30 percent of consumers said they were likely to maintain their lifestyle during the difficult economic times by spending on their credit card and paying it off at a later date.
