Pakistan deploys self-serve kiosks for tax assessments

March 26, 2018

The excise and taxation department in the city of Rawalpindi, Pakistan, has installed four computerized kiosks to accommodate taxpayers, according to Dawn, a Karachi, Pakistan, news source.

Excise and taxation officer Nauman Khan said the machines will facilitate vehicle verification, professional tax assessment, self assessment and the issuance of challans, which are deposit forms.

Khan said the Punjab government seeks to help citizens and to minimize the interaction between taxpayers and officials. He said the department is also computerizing the property tax records in 15 more districts. Six districts already have computerized records.

The machines are also being installed in 22 regional offices in the provinces of Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala, Wazirabad, Gakhar, Alipur, Chattha, Kamoke, Shujabad and others.
