Payment card fraud is still a top worry for retailers despite adoption of more secure chip-based credit and debit cards, according to a National Retail Federation study conducted with Forrester Research.
The newer technology, involving EMV chip cards and readers, was aimed at reducing fraud, stated a press release on the study. Yet 55 percent of retailers cite fraud as the top payment-related challenge.
"In a post-EMV world, fraud is shifting from in-person to e-commerce channels, so retailers have been busy bolstering their defenses to mitigate the increasing costs and risks of e-commerce fraud," stated the report.
