PayPal is offering a checkout option using cryptocurrency called Checkout with Crypto for select online purchases at millions of global e-commerce sites.

The payment option comes on the heels of PayPal's move last year to allow U.S. customers to buy, hold and sell four types of cryptocurrency in the PayPal wallet.

The crypto checkout reveals PayPal's commitment to offering customers more ways to pay and shop, according to an announcement penned by John Kunze, senior vice president of brand experiences

"Seamlessly woven into the PayPal checkout flow, customers using Checkout with Crypto can check out safely and easily, quickly converting cryptocurrency holdings to U.S. dollars at checkout, with clear conversion rates and no additional fees," wrote Kunze in the website announcement.

Eligible users can purchase crypto in the PayPal wallet for as little as a dollar. After checkout, PayPal will take care of the sale and conversion of crypto holdings to cover the purchase. Crypto currencies accepted include bitcoin, ether, bitcoin cash and Litecoin.

Checkout with Crypto is rolling out to PayPal customers in the U.S. today and will be available broadly to customers in the U.S. in the coming weeks, according to the announcement.
