Pennsylvania lawmakers are proposing a Senate bill, 1205, that would ban dynamic pricing.
Dynamic pricing is defined in the bill as changing prices of essential goods or services within a 24-hour period based on demand or other factors, including AI, according to a Mashable report.
The proposed legislation comes just about four months after New York State enacted the "Algorithmic Pricing Disclosure Act," which mandates businesses that use algorithmic pricing to provide a disclaimer near the price stating the price was set by an algorithm using "your own personal data."
Pennsylvania is just one of 11 states considering or taking legislative action on surveillance pricing, according to the news report.
