Plans for Amazon retail store moving ahead

June 25, 2012

Amazon's new retail store in Seattle, where the company is based, will be on the ground retail level in one of the three towers its constructing, according to goodreader.com, a site that published the information after receiving a "leak" from one of the architects on the project.

The store will likely house a bookstore selling Amazon-published books as well as a café, according to the story.

The online retailer made a deal in February with Clise Properties to purchase the land in downtown Seattle after filing preliminary plans with the city to build three 1-million-square feet office towers and commissioning Seattle architecture firm NBBJ to design the project.

The proposed store could take as long as eight years to finish, according to an unnamed architect working on the project.
