October delivered a 0.1 percent increase in retail sales, compared to September, and a 4.3 percent gain compared to a year ago.
The figures, released by the National Retail Federation, indicate that households will be spending during the holiday season, according to a press release.
The sporting goods segment saw the biggest increase, with a 1.5 percent boost over September, but dipped 2.4 percent compared to a year ago while clothing and accessories saw an 0.8 percent month-to-month and 0.4 percent increase compared to 2016.
