Retailers asking suppliers to lower prices

February 13, 2012

Suppliers should consider adjusting pricing models to help retailers planning to expand into global markets, said Peter Birtles, the CEO of Super Retail Group.

To compete with online sellers, many retailers are calling on suppliers to lower their prices so the brands can remain competitive as they seek to establish multi-channel platforms, according to eway.com.

"I think there are opportunities to reduce costs, and we are in a much more transparent market place where retail price is much more visible, and I think the suppliers need to be much more aware of that, so we're talking to them about that," Birtles said in the story.
