Retailers believe AI technology can help overcome supply chain management challenges, such as disconnected systems and poor demand forecasting.
That's the prime finding of a Sympohony RetailAI report that polled North American retailers. The survey reveals that nearly two-thirds of retail supply chain leaders are struggling with supply chain disconnects and while confident in inventory planning technology, nearly half rate forecasting capability as average to very poor.
"Today's retail supply chain is being reinvented because of the complexities of providing goods to customers," said Patrick Buellet, chief strategy officer, Symphony RetailAI, in a press release on the survey. "Even though retailers are challenged by the pace of innovation, winners are investing in new technologies, particularly artificial intelligence and machine learning. These can boost productivity, and greatly improve the accuracy of information for better decisions throughout the supply chain."
