Rite Aid announces in-store resources for rollout of Affordable Care Act

September 11, 2013

Rite Aid Corporation has announced a set of comprehensive resources to help customers better understand the Affordable Care Act, the pharmacy retailer said in a news release.

Beginning Oct. 1, in conjunction with the start of enrollment for the Health Insurance Marketplace, independent, licensed insurance agents will be onsite in nearly 2,000 of the more than 4,600 Rite Aid pharmacies across the country for free consultations with customers.

The program is aimed at providing information to help consumers make informed decisions regarding their health care. Agents will be available to meet one-on-one with customers to answer questions on the Affordable Care Act and to help them compare health care plans based on individual needs and customers will also be able to enroll in a plan if they choose.

"As a trusted community health care provider, our customers look to us for help in making healthcare decisions for themselves and their families," said Rite Aid Chairman and CEO John Standley. "With the implementation of the Health Insurance Marketplace, our customers will now have many new choices to make in the coming enrollment period. We know they will look to Rite Aid for information and guidance, and that's why we're providing free resources in store and online, to help them better understand the new requirements and options available to them under the law."
