Samsung's new store copying Apple?

July 16, 2012

Best Buy made headlines last week with its new store design modeled after Apple stores; this week, it's Samsung, the Korean company that Apple has already accused of infringing on its patents.

Samsung opened its first North American retail store in Buraby's Metropolis in Metrotown, Vancouver, and it looks a lot like Apple stores, according to digitaltrends.com, which reported that both have a minimalistic and sleek store design. Samsung's white interior is accented by a light wood finish and wooden tables that "give off an ambiance normally associated with an Apple store."

Another similarity is in the blue shirts worn by customer service representatives and the one-on-one station.

Where the design differs is Samsung's metallic accents and rounded corners, while Apple emphasizes sharp corners and lines. Samsung's new design replaces its previous design, which was dimly lit with black reflective finishes, according to the story.
