The Myrtle Beach International Airport in South Carolina has deployed security checkpoint scanners aimed at making the security process faster for travelers.

The scanners create a 3D image of bags so screeners don't need to open bags for examination, according to a WMBF News report. Travelers don't have to remove laptops or food and drink containers and open them as part of the process.

The Myrtle Beach airport has six scanners. The Transportation Security Administration aims to expand use at other South Carolina airports. The Hilton Head airport was the first airport in the state to deploy the scanners.

"There's a lot of efficiencies in this new system for both passengers and TSA," Mark Howell, a spokesperson for TSA, told the news outlet.
