About 200 employees at Sears' corporate headquarters in Illinois were let go last month, according to CNBC, and three quarters worked at the support center.
The layoff action was detailed in a state notice obtained by CNBC. The layoff was also the subject of a memo issued by CEO Eddie Lampert and indicated the streamlining effort is part of Sears' "strategic transformation."
"We continue to fight every day to improve the performance of Sears Holdings — and you are central to that effort. I ask everyone to remain focused on the OKRs you set for the quarter as your goals can have a direct impact on our company’s transformation," stated the memo, according to CNBC.
