The e-commerce platform Shopify today released a POS system designed to simplify the transition between selling in-store and online.
Shopify POS uses the same online store management system as its e-commerce platform, allowing merchants to manage all aspects of their business from one place, the company said in a news release. Retailers can add a product or update inventory on one side of the system, and it is instantly updated across the board.
"Shopify is well-known as the world's best platform used to create and manage an online store," said Adam McNamara, Shopify VP of Product. "But the future of retail isn't online versus in-store; it's a seamless combination of both. Shopify has transitioned from simply powering online sales to powering all commerce: online, offline, mobile, and everything in between."
Other features of the system include:
"The future of modern retail is all about customer experience," said McNamara. "Consumers want to buy in-store and have the product shipped to them. They want to buy online and pick it up in-store. They want flexibility. Shopify POS gives merchants the tools to easily and inexpensively offer their customers the shopping experience they want."
