ShopKeep is acquiring Ambur, an iPad and iPhone point of sale system for more than 1,500 restaurants.

Founded by former restaurateurs Ansar Khan and James O’Leary, Ambur provides a feature-rich set of options specifically designed for full-service, quick-service and fast casual restaurants, as well as bars and food trucks, according to a press release. Khan has already joined ShopKeep's business development team, and the acquisition brings the rapidly growing company's merchant base to more than 20,000.

"Ambur provides an excellent point of sale app that was created by a restaurant owner, for restaurant owners," Norm Merritt, ShopKeep president and CEO, said in a statement. "This acquisition allows ShopKeep to further our reach into the restaurant industry and expand our overall market share amongst independent merchants."

ShopKeep's acquisition news caps a string of recent announcements for the company this year. It recently announced the addition of a new CFO, $60 million in fundraising, international expansion and partnerships with Mastercard and Heartland. Earlier this year, ShopKeep acquired Payment Revolution and began offering customized payment processing as an option to its merchants.
