WASHINGTON, D.C. — Shop.org has announced that Dawn Lepore, chief executive and chairman of the board of drugstore.com Inc., will keynote its Annual Summit, September 21-23 in Las Vegas. Lepore will address 2,000 of the industry's leading online retail and multichannel executives on Wednesday, September 23 at 9:00 a.m. at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino.
Lepore became CEO of drugstore.com in late 2004 and the company has experienced a turnaround under her leadership. While retail has been experiencing one of the toughest periods in recent history, drugstore.com just announced Q1 results reporting the highest revenue in company history and a sales growth rate that continues to be significantly ahead of ecommerce and industry trends. During her keynote, Lepore will offer observations on how to optimize online retail to drive profitability, how technology will continue to drive retail innovation, and the lessons she has learned about customer behavior in a rapidly-changing retail environment.
Before joining drugstore.com, Lepore served as vice chairman of technology, operations, administration, strategy and active trader for The Charles Schwab Corporation, where she played a key role in building Schwab's highly successful e-commerce business. She was also a member of Schwab's Executive Committee and a trustee of SchwabFunds.
Lepore serves on the boards of eBay and The New York Times Company; she previously served on the board of Walmart from August 2001 to September 2004. She has been honored four times as one of Fortune's 50 Most Powerful Women in American Business.
