SimpleRegistry offers crowd-sourced gift ideas

Online gift registry tool SimpleRegistry has added the ability to crowd-source gift ideas, according to the website BetaKit.

Users can add items to their registry account by scanning a barcode or bookmarking them on the site. Friends can make monetary contributions toward specific wants on the recipients' lists. The crowd-sourcing feature allows friends to make suggestions on items to add to the wish list.

The Cincinnati, Ohio-based startup launched the site in 2010.
