Half of small business owners are viewing current business conditions as good or excellent and predict conditions will improve in the next six months.
That's a healthy spike from 41 percent citing optimism last year, according to Capital One's Small Business Growth Index report. The latest figures represent the highest level of optimism since 2012.
"It's encouraging to see more small businesses feeling optimistic about their performance and future prospects, particularly women and younger business owners who represent increasingly significant segments impacting our local and national economies," Buck Stinson, head of small business card at Capital One, said in a press release about the study.
Yet more than a few small businesses are hesitant when it comes to investing in staff, tech and marketing with 67 percent having no plans to hire, 66 percent not aiming to boost marketing and 62 percent not planning to deploy new tech such as mobile payments.
