While most businesses have eliminated mask rules and other COVID-19 safety requirements, some high-end luxury brands have not and it's not only due to continued concern of the pandemic that shuttered stores two years ago.
Chanel, Cartier and Louis Vuitton are keeping social distancing rules in place, resulting in queues outside stores as well as shopper appointment strategies that came into play at the swell of the pandemic, according to a New York Post report.
None of the three luxury retailers have commented on why the approaches are still in place, according to the Post, which cited a note on the Cartier website that recommends consumers book appointments before visiting their boutiques.
The pandemic rules could be a strategy in response to shoplifting incidents and robberies and brands wanting to have more control of the number of shoppers in stores with security forces, according to the Post.
