Spirit enters Chapter 11, issues letter to travelers

Spirit Airlines has voluntarily entered Chapter 11 and its inherent restructuring process and issued a letter to travelers notifying them it will continue to operate flights in normal fashion and that travelers are able to use tickets, credit and loyalty points.

The open letter also stated travelers can benefit from its Free Spirit loyalty program, Savers$ Club and credit card terms.

"Our Team Members remain focused on offering you a safe journey, with excellent service and an elevated experience," the airline stated in the letter.
