Stitch Fix embraces AI, deploys stylist service

Stitch Fix, a subscription fashion company, is embracing AI and deploying a new stylist feature.

The brand now offers a conversational AI style assistant and AI visualization to inspire discovery, according to a blog post from CEO Matt Baer. The Stylist Connect feature lets clients and stylists connect outside of the Stitch Fix experience.

"Shopping for clothing today is undeniably broken, and at Stitch Fix, we're fixing it. To do so, we're using the power of AI, 15 years of proprietary data, our algorithms that get smarter with every interaction, and the expertise of our team of stylists who know each of their clients at an individual level," Baer said in the blog post.

The AI tool, called AI Style Assistant, engages in dialogue with clients and uses AI-generated outfit inspiration to help them articulate their individual style preferences.

"At Stitch Fix, we help clients discover styles and trends they love, often before they know they're looking for them. Now, we're taking that to the next level. Powered by our proprietary data, Stylist expertise, and the latest advancements in GenAI, we are beginning to offer personalized style visualization, enabling clients to see themselves in a variety of outfit recommendations and trends. Currently available to select clients within our Stylist Connect platform, we plan to roll out this feature more broadly in the coming months," stated Baer.
