Supply chain gaining importance in customer experience, reveals report

The role of the supply chain is viewed as the next big thing, given that a majority of retailers acknowledge it's impacting everything from greater efficiency to inventory accuracy.

In response, according to Symphony RetailAI's fourth annual benchmark report, "Supply Chain Management 2018: In Service of the Customer," retailers are making serious investment in supply chain efficiency. The study, conducted by Retail Systems Research, reveals more retailers are understanding they are challenged to assess demand with a greater accuracy "to fulfill that demand in the ways consumers expect," according to a press release on the findings.

"Retailers know just how far-reaching the supply chain's impact is, but it’s interesting that 96 percent of retail winners see corporate performance impacted by the supply chain, while just over half of non-winners express the same confidence," said Patrick Buellet, chief strategy officer, Symphony RetailAI, in the release.
