Target opens its first urban concept called CityTarget next week in Chicago. The two-story location will feature more checkout lanes, two-shelf shopping carts and smaller sizes of products to allow customers to more easily carry items on walks home or on trips to the "L" train.
"Our goal is to bring the great Target experience to urban guests — quick and easy, one-stop shopping," Mark Schindele, Target's senior vice president of merchandise operations, told the Star Tribune. "In the city, you have to take multiple trips to multiple [stores] because there is not a true general merchandise retailer in dense urban locations."
Target is also opening CityTargets in Los Angeles and Seattle.
