Target launches same-day ship without a membership mandate

June 13, 2019

Target shoppers can now get same-day delivery on 65,000 items as long as the order is more than $9.99.

The delivery option, via the Shipt service the retailer bought in 2017, is the latest delivery salvo in the battle among retailers to give customers as many choices as possible.

Prior to the new option, Target customers either had to sign up for an annual Shipt $99 membership or a $14 monthly membership, according to a New York Post report. The Shipt delivery has also been incorporated into Target's retail ecommerce site.

As Retail Customer Experience reported Walmart debuted next-day delivery on orders of $35 or more in specific markets and just announced it was getting ready to offer in-home grocery delivery, and Amazon recently enhanced free shipping for its Prime members by providing one-day delivery.
