In the wake of not-so-great sales, Target reportedly is culling down on technology innovation including the shuttering of a start-up effort.
Goldfish, a secretive e-commerce initiated a year ago, and a robot project, are now back in the drawer, according to a Star Tribune report, which cited sources familiar with the matter.
Target, according to the report, would not comment on the innovation project moves but provided the Tribune with a statement.
"At Target, we regularly pause to evaluate our business and have to make tough choices about where our company is best served to invest our time and resources," Dustee Jenkins, Target senior VP of communications, said in the statement. "We recently made some changes to the innovation portfolio to refocus our efforts on supporting our core business, both in stores and online, and delivering against our strategic priorities."
