Target sued over biometric data consent issue

A class action lawsuit has been filed against Target in Chicago, Illinois, regarding the alleged collection of biometric data without consent.

The suit claims the retailer collected and stored Arnetta Dean's biometric data without her approval, according to a Fox 32 report. Dean is suing for statutory damages claiming Target has violated a state privacy law.

The suit alleges the retailer installed facial recognition technology in its Illinois locations without letting customers know.
