Target to revamp Cartwheel Perks program after year-long test

Consumers holding Target Cartwheel Perks have until August 27 to earn points and select items to redeem by September 27 as the retailer is shuttering the loyalty program and prepping a re-do.

The rewards program has been in a year-long testing phase in five markets, according to a CNBC report, and users in those markets recently were alerted the pilot was ending soon and that the retailer is prepping a new chapter for Cartwheel.

"Creating simple, convenient and fun digital tools for Target guests means listening carefully to guest feedback and regularly making adjustments based on what we hear," a Target spokesperson told CNBC.

The loyalty program lets users collect points on each purchase and then redeem the points for specific items.

"We had many learnings about how to engage and reward guests that we plan to leverage in the future," Target told CNBC. "We look forward to sharing more about exciting changes coming soon to the Cartwheel and Target apps."
