The buy online, pick up in-store trend continues to gain momentum, with Target joining Walmart and Best Buy on the growing list of retailers looking to beef up their offline offerings.
According to an article in the Star Tribune, Target wants to roll out the BOPS service to all of its 1,800 U.S. stores in time for Black Friday.
"We continue to invest to further integrate the shopping experience across channels," Target CEO Gregg Steinhafel said in the article. "We will begin in the Minneapolis market before expanding the role to other markets. We expect to complete the role to all stores by the holiday season."
Target also will begin testing same-day delivery from stores, as Target's EVP for Merchandising Kathy Tesija said during the retailer's recent quarterly report. Although the tests will be limited to Target's own employees, the company will consider an official rollout for 2014 based on the pilot's success.
