CVS, Target and Walgreens are now on the list of retailers requiring consumers to wear facial masks while shopping and the rule impacts all stores nationwide.

The initiative comes fast on the heels of other top retail brands, including Walmart and Costco, to initiate the public safety measure given the ongoing COVID-19 outbreaks across the U.S.

Target will enact the rule come August 1, according to a USA Today report. CVS and Walgreens are starting as of July 20. Grocery chain Publix is also launching a face mask requirement July 21.

"With the recent spike in COVID-19 infections, we're joining others in taking the next step and requiring all customers to wear face coverings when entering any of our stores throughout the country effective Monday, July 20," CVS said in a press release.

Walmart and its Sam's Club location will launch the rule on July 20 as will Kohl's.
